Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Venue? Funk n Grooves is held next door to Tyrrell's Vineyard, 1882 Broke Rd Pokolbin in the heart of Hunter Valley Wine Country. It's a big paddock with plenty of room to spread out, set against the magnificent Brokenback Mountain Range.

Please note that the 2010 Funk n Grooves Festival is NOT being held at Bimbadgen Estate and is NOT associated with Bimbadgen Estate

If you are thinking of driving, there will be plenty of FREE parking available on site. But think green and check out the transport options on our Transport page!

Coming from Sydney?  Take the Harbour Bridge or Harbour Tunnel north following the signs to “North Coast & Newcastle”. At Wahroonga (Approx 30 minutes from Sydney), turn right onto the F1 Freeway heading for “Newcastle”.
Follow the Freeway for approximately one hour, and then take the “Cessnock” exit (Road 82). Follow signs to Cessnock, and then onto “Branxton”. On the way to Branxton, turn left into Broke Road, just after Cessnock Airport (Approx 10 minutes from Cessnock). Follow Broke Road to the end, turn left then immediately right at Hunter Valley Gardens. Follow Broke Road past Tyrrell’s Vineyard, and turn left into the Funk n Grooves site.

What are the event times? We kick off at noon and finish around 9.30pm

What should I bring? It's outdoors so a hat and sunscreen are a must and maybe a jacket as it will cool down. A camera to record all of the antics is great. Plenty of cash and a great attitude is about the lot!

Can I bring food? Yes you can but there will be plenty of food from local restaurants and your festival faviourites. You can bring in sealed bottles of water only. All bottles must be unopened. Security guards will be checking all bags and will confiscate any opened bottles, alcohol or other banned/dangerous items. You can bring along a backpack or similar size bag, but please, no eskies, folding chairs or other bulky items

Can I bring my own booze? No. This is a licensed event, all bags will be searched upon entry and any prohibited items including alcohol will be confiscated.

Can I bring a tent? As this is an outdoor picnic style event, and there is no camping on site, no marquees or tents are allowed.

Can I bring my Dog, Cat, snake? Please note there are no pets allowed on-site.

Are there ATM'S? No the nearest is a couple of k's away so bring plenty of cash.

Can I catch a bus to the event?
 We have bus options from Central Coast, Upper Hunter, North Coast and from Newcastle. Check out the Transport Page

Can I camp the night?
 There is NO CAMPING at the Festival Site.

What other accommodation options are available?
 Cessnock has a wide range of fabulous accommodation to suit both the budget conscious and the extravagent traveller. For all this and more information on what to do in and around the region, visit the Wine Country Website here.

What about the kids? Funk n Grooves is an 18's and over event ONLY. There are childminding services available throughout Hunter Wine Country Contact Wine Country Tourism for details and bookings or check with your accommodation.

What if it rains? If it rains, the show will go on. The show will only be abandoned if conditions are deemed dangerous.

How much for Parking? Nothing! Free parking is available onsite.

Can I get a refund if I can't go or don't like a band? Tickets are non-refundable so once you buy a ticket the only way you can get a refund is if the promoter has to cancel the entire event.

Will it be OK to smoke a joint with my mates?
 Definitely not. Police sniffer dogs are becoming a regular at festivals around the country. So if you don't want to get busted, DON'T BRING ANYTHING ILLEGAL.
